Managing post knee arthroscopy
Managing post Knee arthroscopy:
Knee arthroscopy is a group of surgeries that are all performed arthroscopically (keyhole) commonly to repair cartilage and the joint surfaces within the knee. As this type of operation is less invasive than most surgery, the patient is typically able to return home on the same day and is encouraged to walk same day post op. The procedure is simple compared to other surgeries, patients will still experience varying levels of pain typically managed with simple pain medications. Research has shown that the outcomes following surgery are much better if combined with physiotherapy. Your physio will provide you with a tailored program designed to rehabilitate your strength, regain your range of motion, return to your daily tasks and prevent future injury. Additionally, your physio can provide advice regarding return to work/sport and discuss strategies to manage pain in the first few days, weeks and months.
