Managing Hip Osteoarthritis Pain
Hip Osteoarthritis is the leading cause of hip pain in adults aged over 50, and is caused by degeneration of both the cartilage and bones in the hip. Symptoms can include pain, stiffness particularly in the morning and restricted range of motion.
A physiotherapist can help guide you through pain management strategies after completing a thorough assessment, and creating a personalized treatment plan. Primary interventions include exercise to help strengthen the muscles around the hip and leg, weight management, and education. In some instances, medications and surgery may be warranted, however this is a last resort treatment option.
