Knee pain - know your enemy
Knee pain often strikes in a severe and sudden way. Due to the nature of knee pain a sudden sharp pain can be both alarming and restrictive to your normal activities.
We’ll break down some of the major causes of knee pain below and recommended strategies to assist.
1.) Patellofemoral joint syndrome - the number one cause of knee pain, often associated with anterior knee pain, clicking and cracking knee caps or rubbing off the knee cap causing a friction based pain. This is also one of the more easily treatable forms of knee pain when caught early.
2.) Meniscal tears - often traumatic - the meniscus is the cartilage creating a shock absorber for the knee
3.) Osteoarthritic/degenerative changes - gradual onset, aching knee’s, usually mechanical symptoms
